But the work gave him business experience that helped him become successful when he went out on his own.

Have you worked on an assembly line before? I have. Trust me, you don't learn anything except how to work that assembly line.

Forever, for Jobs, or anyone with ambition, it probably built him character and drive; characteristics that every successful entrepreneur needs to have.

You can learn a lot from working on an assembly line, as long as you look beyond the line. I did a lot of jobs in my life that helped prepare me to write and produce features. I was a paid writer, both creative and commercial. I was a professional photographer. And I was a radio DJ. So I got a pretty good education about story, image and sound.

Why do you look down on people who start at the bottom, learn everything they can, and climb the ladder to a successful career?

Easy easy. I don't look down on people who started at the bottom and worked their way up to achieve success. In fact, I think these are the best people as they have overcome incredible odds. I'm simply skeptical of the naive BELIEVE that just by working at the bottom for other people, you will some how make your way to the top.

I haven't seen anyone saying that. What we are saying, though, is learning a business from the ground up gives you a great foundation for starting a business of your own.
