I have a a shoot coming up on Epic Draon, and we'll have a GH4 on a drone for some aerials. It's only recording internally, so I need to know what's the better format - 4k 100Mbps or the 200Mbps 1080p mode?
I don't know if it matters for your particular shoot, but UHD into an HD timeline for me produces a more detailed image than just recording in HD. I've also found that workflow helps reduce the appearance of any noise.
4K mode is more detailed (even when downscaled) but will display more rolling shutter artifacts... if you have a good way to obliterate those in post, then that's not so much of an issue.
4k 100mbps is the way to go. The GH4 can exhibit aliasing and moire when shooting in 1080p. Aerial wide shots are prone to having this. At least in urban environments. Shooting in 4k not only gives you higher resolution, but a moire-free image.
