Internal ND Filter Strangeness

Got my new 100b and I'm loving it. Have a question about the internal ND filters tho...

When I put the switch to 1/8, the filter goes into effect but the monitor says "No ND". When I put the switch to 1/64, the filter goes into effect but the monitor says "ND 1/8".

It's always a step off. Any idea what gives?

Thanks,
Christopher

Stay in Manual Iris

It sounds like the Auto Exposure is kicking in

-

If not; adjust exposure (Iris)

Also keep in mind if your waving the camera all over the damn place; at the sky, in the alley and on the grass....

Thse factors will make the ND go all over.

Could it be that the camera is suggesting what ND setting to use?.....I'm not sure, but if you're indoors and set the 1/8 on, it might say No ND to tell you to take it off, and then when you're on 1/64 it would tell you to bump down. (Then when you're set to 1/8 it would say No ND again. That could be it.

It's not telling you what you've got, it's telling you what it recommends. If you put the ND filter in and the resulting image is too dark, it'll tell you "no ND" to advise you to pull the filter out.

If you don't have the filter in and the image is too bright, it'll tell you "ND 1/8" because it's recommending you to put in the 1/8 filter, etc. It's not a status report, it's a recommendation.

Ahhhh, that makes sense. I'm used to shooting with junk cameras, so making the adjustment to quality is difficult.
