internal mic

Re: internal mic

What do you mean by "low"? It's not really meant to pick up voices & such more than a couple of feet away.

Re: internal mic

No . . . it's better for recording ambient sound. You'll want an external shotgun mic for voices from further away than a few feet.

Well he is obviously a very intelligent individual learning with fantastic language skills and an imagination to match.
Oh well pitty we can't all be like him. :'(

Re: internal mic

Now on a serious note, have you checked that your imputs are set correctly. If they are set to line level you will get some different effects.

Re: internal mic

we set the levels all the way to the right on both channells and we still got semi-poor results w/some noise

I have the same problem. The volume of the built in mic and the unidirectional model that Panasonic makes are both lower than a normal MiniDV camera. It was apparent to me the first time I watched my footage. Change the audio gain from 50db to 60db. That worked for me. I don't know why the camera ships with quiet audio.

Change the audio gain through the menu. That should give you better results.

The inputs aren't a factor with the internal mic. There's no "mic" or "line" level to set with it.

Re: internal mic

Even I have low level of my audio, compar to my old camera (NV-MX300). Why? I mean shouldent there be at least the same level.

Re: internal mic

Other cameras have automatic level control, so they will boost up the volume automatically if you're in a quiet setting. The DVX doesn't have any sort of automatic level control. You have to manually control the audio levels yourself.

Re: internal mic

I find that feature on other cameras very annoying. You know when you're watching a speach on TV and when the person stops talking, the ambient noise gets real loud until the person starts talking again. Man, I'm glad the DVX isn't like that.
