i can't seem to get any levels through my mic, even though i've tried playing with the settings and switches, and even resetting. does this sound like i have a problem with the hardware of the mic itself or some other setting i'm not aware of that i might have changed unknowingly? suggestions? i'm baffled...

yea the mic has always worked before.. i've had it for over a year
Check all the basics
int mic limiter off and check what ever method you use for play back
I have sen many earphone wires develop problems and result ---no sound
Good Luck

I agree with Bruce. Check basics but corrosion has caused Internal MIC issues. It's best to have corrosion handled fast before it spreads.

chintalan, forgive me if you've already done all this, but just to help you cover all the bases, go through the basic process of elimination: use another mic that you know works on another camera, and also test your mic on that other camera. Also try different XLR cables. Clean the XLR leads on the mic, cables, and camera.

Have you also tried flipping the line/mic switch near the XLR port on the front? Make sure it's in "Mic". Does your mic need "Mic Power" and it's off? Have you tried recording audio as opposed to just hearing it in headphones? Any levels? The most important thing is to just try a different mic, because your mic may have an internal battery that died.
