internal mic not working

I have a DVX100B that's about 10 months old and all of a sudden I can't get audio though the internal microphone. I had a friend run a dub for me and he had the camera for a couple days. The next time I went to use it, I turned it on and there were no levels (the camera also made a journey from Hong Kong to the states in that time). There doesn't appear to be physical damage to the camera and as far as I can tell everything else works fine. I know this is hard for someone to diagnose without handling the camera, but I was wondering if there is a setting having to do with the internal mic that I don't know about. Anyone know? If anyone has any suggestions before I bring it in to someone, that would be great. Thanks.

Have you checked the position of the mic switches behind the LCD panel? If they are set to ext., the onboard mic won't work.

yeah, I've checked pretty much every switch on the camera. It is set to internal and the volume for each channel is turned up.

I can only think of one more thing to check. Are the XLR mic power switches on or off? If they are on, that might interfere with the internal mic.
