INTERNAL 4K recording to AVCHD _ NOT RAW

By definition, that is to say, by the AVCHD specification, maximum resolution of AVCHD is 1920x1080. Sony has announced XAVC, which has a 4k resolution, but, in order to record to XAVC, the hardware codec would need to be installed ILO the AVC codec.

Hey Lads,

Quick question. Maybe it has been covered in the past. Not sure though..

Just watched this clip on the Abelcine site.
http://blog.abelcine.com/2013/06/12/at-the-bench-sony-fs700-hxr-ifr5-raw-recording/

Check what he is speaking about at 01:35 and on.

Would recording 4K to AVCHD internally be possible without the external Sony recorder just with the 400$ Sony upgrade ?

thanks !

everything he had talked about 4K was for raw recording with external recorder. he meant that we can record both raw (externally) and AVCHD (internally) same time.

except SD recording, FS700 is stick with 8bit AVCHD only for internal recording and this codec is up to 1080P/60fps right now.
