Intermediate Output format

Hey everybody!
I ran into a little problem with my workflow. I shot on a Canon 7D. I edit in Premiere Pro and sometimes get a clip over to AfterEffects for some maintenance so to speak. I do not use the Dynamic Link option as it sometimes froze. So I have to render the files.
I was wondering: what format should I use as an intermediate? I tended to use a Quicktime container set to JPEG2000. But these didn't work great in Premiere Pro.
Any suggestions?

In after effects I usually use the add to render que option and then export as lossless. You can also use the animation option or a png sequence.

You prob.meant a PNG Codec, not sequence?! I've read that the PNG codec ought to be used before keying as well.
