Interlacing w/ 24p dvd

Hi-

I posted this over at 2-pop and now I'm trying it over here.

I've shot some footage using 24 adavanced squeeze mode. I then imported to FCH HD with a preset to remove the pull down and unsqueeze the image. I then put then the clips in a 24 fps time line/sequence for editing. When I made an anamorphic 24 fps dvd I have some interlacing issues and artifcats.

Could this be caused by the dvd player adding the 2:3 telecine to display on a non progressive TV or does it sound more like I have done something wrong in terms of settings.

Would placing the 23.97 clips in 24 fps time line have anything to do with it?

Also, at 2-pop I was told to make sure that my presets for the capture were 29.97 and not 24. This seems weird to me and when I recaptured this way and put the clips into the 24fps sequence they had to be rendered.

I'm just getting a little confused...

Thanks for any help!

Jim

Re: Interlacing w/ 24p dvd

The clips need to be in a 23.98 fps timeline...If your 24pa has the pulldown removed and you edit the footage in this timeline you should be fine...a 24 fps timeline is different than a 23.98.  Your capture should be at 23.98.

EDIT: By the way what are you editing in, FCP HD?

Re: Interlacing w/ 24p dvd

are you watching this on an interlaced TV? If so, your footage will always have interlacing lines in it. If you watch it on your computer DVD player, and there are still interlace lines, then you have a problem.
