From the Nikon Rumors website:Nikon also introduced a new zoom/focus assist lever called NAL-1 "that enables smoother zooming and focusing when attached to the zoom ring or focus ring on a NIKKOR lens". Pricing and availability are not yet announced.

You've got to be kidding me

Speaking of missing the boat haha.... LMAOL I love Nikon lenses but this is going to make laughing stock out of them.
I suggest if anyone buys that please please remove the Nikon logo before taking it in the public ;)

I would give that a go. could be useful for a quick-fix situation. especially smoother iris pulls (not so much for focusing since I'd use the lens barrel for that.)

I also see it as quite useful for zooms on DSLR run 'n gun... where you leave all the "dog and pony show" equipment at home for lighter and faster setups.

On the "D" type lens I think these would be useful (aperture and focus) if the are reasonably inexpensive. For those who are mainly still images but take video for location stuff, easy to carry in a jacket or back pocket.

No way
I just said it's nothing new, and costs a tenth of what Nikon will charge for theirs. If it's not a joke, which I still think it might be.
