Intercutting HPX500 with HVX200

Has anybody intercut footage from these two cameras into the same project yet? If both are recording 720/24pN? If the HVX200 had a Redrock M2 with Nikons and the HPX500 has a Canon HD zoom lens, would there be a huge difference? I understand there may be contrast and sharpness differences given the glass used, but would it be the kind of thing that only people really paying attention would notice? Would your average moviegoer take notice? Obviously I would match the brightness, contrast and color grading in post once it's all cut, but do you think the shots would stand out from each other? Thanks!

Thats going to be pretty difficult to match, for one you dealing with a base asa on the HVX/M2 combo of around 100ish. The hpx is around 500-800 (depending on who you ask). Regardless there is a huge difference there, you will have to ND the hpx500 down to match the same exposure. Also the hvx/m2 combo is pretty grainy. Not to mention the slight pro-mist look.

Just use the hvx200 bare with the deep dof, use it for pick ups or something. Then you can easily intercut the footage.

i intercut these cameras all the time and it works fine - low light is tough because of the sensitivity issues - but the asa diff only matters at low f-stops or if you need to match f-stop instead of exposure (in this case use ND)

quick edit - i think the m2 would make the intercutting much more difficult

Thanks Dolby, very nice video...

I am shooting a project this summer with a HPX 500, but I need exterior shots with snow on the ground. I have an HVX 200 to shoot with before it melts! I am also shooting indoor basketball sequences, to speed some things up I want to intercut the two cameras.
My plan was to shoot 1080p on both cameras, is there anything else I should be concerned with?

JD- Dont use the letus adapter for the shots, it will look like you have a pro-mist filter when you intercut the footage, and some slight vignetting, just use the hvx bare with the stock lens and shoot at 1080/24pA and try to keep the fstop from 4-5.6 for the sharpest footage.

P.s. hows it going in the script cave?

I left the script cave and drove over in my scriptmobile to a local coffee shop.

Wireless is good...espec. to check DVXuser.

On to Act 2...

This may sound odd to many, but IMO its easier to match the Canon A1 to a HPX. You shoot your colours fairly flat on both for post work, and your A OK. The A1 lens shot shallow, matches up to the HPX very nicely, no softness issues etc or grain. Has worked perfectly for me thus far anyway. I have been thinking about trading the A1 in for a SOny EX as a second cam as its tapeless. A1 just tires me these days, spent too long shooting HPX.

Great info all around guys. Thanks. I did a test with an M2 and a Letus on the same shoot on two different HVX's and the ProMist comment for the Letus is dead on. I wasn't happy at all with the way it looked. The M2, for all it's quirks, looked better to me in the end.
