Intercom announcement - on location or in post

So this was something I never thought about because I've never actually run across it until now. If I have an "announcement" come across a speaker - say in a retail store - this should be done in post, correct? I mean recorded in an booth or isolated area and add audio effects to make is sound like a loud speaker. There is zero reason I should attempt to get this on location, right? I mean it seems obvious but I haven't had my coffee yet.

Correct. Do it in post.

For reax from the cast, have someone read the lines off-camera. But trying to record a PA announcement on set/location is a recipe for bad production audio... in which case you’ll end up replacing it in post anyway.
