Intel, Mac G5 or Mac pro tower

I'm new to this. I have a Panasonic hdx 200 and am attempting to do post production in high def with a 3.74 mghz intel 2gig ram . this seems inadequate. I'd like to start a thread to discuss the merits of an intel vs. mac , for post production. (adobe after effects)

Thank you for your time

Whole can of worms in that statement. When it comes to HD your system should work fine, but what software are you running?

I run macintosh because I'm happier with it for my day to day work and I also run it for video because of Final Cut Studio, which I think is the best NLE and suite of support applications out there, and I do it all off of an iBook G4. I'm sure HD on it would be a struggle, but I run an Core Duo iMac at the office and it crunches HDV no problems.

Also don't forget with anything like DVCPRO-HD or higher data rates that disk speed also factors in.

Mac Pro Tower, it's very quite, you can put up to 4 internal drives, it's very fast (QUAD) and if you need to run a PC software all you need to do is use bootcamp and reboot to windows. Also the work flaw between FCP and HVX is great. As far as after fx, I just read they were about to realease a beta version for MacIntel, which will be available shortly for people that own an AE license. Which mean that version 8 should be available in the 1 quarter of 2007. Also CS3 beta should be available next week. I do run AE on my mac book pro, it is very stable and quite fast.

I just switched to Mac with FCS, and i prefer it over Premiere Pro 2.0

I am running FCS on Macbook 2 gig RAM. I also have Vista installed on the laptop with bootcamp. Looking to get the MacPro after MWSF. Wish i have made the switch sooner.
