Alright so i borrowed a hvx200 for a project and i filmed HD on the p2 card. Now I want to upload the footage unto my intel imac (2010) using firewire. I plugged the firewire with the proper settings ( 1934 device), but i keep getting a Disconnect image on the viewer. I then tried to use a USB and the camera mounts on the desktop. I read some forums and some ppl said that using a hub might work. I tried that and that didn't work. I connected the hvx200 unto my emac using firewire and that didn't work either. No signs of recognition. Does anyone know what's up with this? Thanks

so if it connected via usb. why dont you just transfer via usb? its typically faster than firewire anyway...

i have used 3 or 4 different hvx/hpx cameras and they all had hit or miss success connecting for transfer to a mac via firewire.
yet they all connect first time, every time via usb... my general experience was that it took 3, 5, 7 tries to get the cameras to mount via firewire. but they all did eventually connect.

another oddity is that even though transfer connectivity is hit or miss. they all worked great connected via firewire for live capture. go figure...?

there is also a slim chance that the firewire port of your camera got fried by plugging the firwire cable in with the camera powered on

Dumb question.... you did download the proper driver from Panasonic, right?

I have an HPX and I firewire it every time, never an issue.

Using FCP it will work simply with log and capture. Also USB is slower than Firewire so that statement about usb being faster is incorrect.

I'm pretty sure I downloaded the Snow Leopard drive, though it was a while ago, but ok you are right apparently there is no need for drivers any more with the HVX/HPX.
