installing avid? please help!

i've installed avid on my dual 2.0 g5 with 2.5 gb ram and when i double click the avid icon it starts up and then quits with nothing happening. any ideas of why it does this? i have the full version and its not pirated or anything. help is greatly appreciated.
 
A couple of questions first:

What version of Avid is it?
Did you try restarting your cpu? (sorry I don't mean to say you are dumb)
Did you try uninstalling it and re-installing it?
Try giving Avid a call? (you should be covered since you bought it recently...I assume)
 
its been restarted, yes. its avid express pro 4.3.1, i've tried reinstalling it and installing it again. i really didnt want to call avid cause i dont want to register it but if it comes down to that then thats what i will have to do.
 
Well shoot...my "expertise" is in the bigger Avid editing systems for PC. You can also check out the Avid web-site, they have forums on there too.

I guess, another question is, when it starts up, during the start up screen there is some dialogue (well this happens on the Avid Adrenaline system I work on) that flashes on the bottom of different things starting up. Is there a certain on that it stops on each time? That might give you a key to something.
