installation

I am trying to install final cut studio 2 onto my macbook pro. I have all the disks and prompts, but after I thought I successfully installed the software, I cannot find any of the applications on my computer. I looked further into it and realized that there was no prompt to enter a serial #. Does anybody know why this is??? I have already installed this software on my work computer and it works fine. I just want to install it on my lap top, so I can do some catch up work at home. Any thoughts would be a great stress reduction.

I have never heard of anything like this. Did you get a message at the end saying "Installation is complete?"

Why not try it again?

You may have had an existing FCP ID file in that MacBook Pro.

Because you enter the serial number at the commencement of the install.

Did that prompt occur early on and not at all?

I'd say try to reinstall, and if you can't, take the laptop and software to the Apple Store and get them to help out (if there's one near you).

Checking your Applications Folder is the first place you need to check. Also click the APPLE logo in the top left corner of the screen and select About this Mac then click More Info. Scroll down to Software and scroll down to see if in fact if everything was installed on your computer.

I just loaded up FCS2 over the weekend myself on my Powermac G5 and I had to go to my apps folder to find certain things. Now if you have FCP, Soundtrack Pro, Motion, etc sitting in your dock right now from the original Final Cut Studio, check to see what version they are. If they are from FCStudio then drag them up our of the dock so they "poof" away and replace them with the ones you just added to your apps folder (Final Cut Studio 2).

I don't why this is. I figured once I added FCS2 it would override and update everything to the most current version which it did for STP and LT. I had to delete the original FCP and Motion from my dock and drag Motion 3 and Final Cut 6.0 back into the dock. Color was automatically added to my Apps folder and I simply dragged that to my dock as well.
