This may not work for coming up with new ideas, but when I'm working on an idea and get stuck at a certain point, I put on "Blade Runner"; there's just something hypnotic about that movie (the quiet?) that lets me just drift and I usually find my story (and no my stories are not about androids and harrison ford).

Most of the time if I need inspiration or motivation, I just sit in a sauna at the gym till I think of something. This usually works because I hate both the gym and sauna's. On Thursday I was in there for almost 2 hours trying to think of another idea for the Sci-Fest.
