Casting has come and gone. I was really excited going into this casting call only to be disappointed, once again. I had been in contact with 10 or so candidates for the parts I have available. After setting everything up only 3 show. I think I will be able to fill my movie with these 3 who did show but it is just so frustrating to take all this time to prep and sort through applications, then book the conference room and take time out of my buys weekend to sit around for 4 hours to only have 3 show up. I sent everyone the email 10 days in advance and it clearly says the date on the casting call. IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT ON THE DATE ON THE CASTING CALL DO NOT BOTHER CONTACTING ME! Or if something comes up...call me and let me know. I think it is a common decency thing which the ones who did not show do not have...is this an actors thing? :) Anyway the good notes. I found an awesome location to hold meetings and casting calls for the future and it's FREE!!!!! Plus I did meet 3 new actors in my area that I got along with really well and I think they have some good talent. Look at the positives, right? :) I will post head shots in the coming days of the cast.

I guess its just a human thing, its like if you flyer for a party only about 5% of the flyers (or less) will have any impact on anybody. People are naturally flakey and selfish, but still understandably disappointing.. Good luck, I like the concept!

May12th shoot is done. Working with the cast was a blast and we had minimal issues. Minor headphone going bad but we thought it was the mic after we swapped cables and what not. But found only a headset. Minor setup issues with lighting as well. Managed to get all scenes except one done. Will plan to do that in June sometime.

Editing note...most shots really worked out and I owe that to the talents of the actors. Always cracks me up I plan out tons and tons of shots to really only shoot about 10. Even less if the actors know their lines. They did a great job. Also found the last 4 or 5 shots for the day had some bad feedback. I think I cleaned it up in post but that has happened on the last two films I have done and I never hear the feedback in the headset when recording. I use a Juicedlink to get the mic into my NTG1 mic into the cam, maybe the battery is dying by the time...who knows. But it's annoying.

Cast Member fell through and trying to find a replacement is proving to be tougher than I imagined. Carrying on with re-shoots and other things until I find a new "College Girl"

Reshoot 1 is this weekend. Looking forward to moving forward on this. Screen of a the look I might go with, Still testing and tweaking(alittle blown out in the whites) but getting a good look down.

Made it through a second day of shooting. Some good news and some bad news. GOOD news is we did get all the studioshots finished and they fit well into the first batch of video. I had a couple of lucky things happen that allowed me to take audio from the new footage and just put it over the old footage. Also a couple of scenes we re-did turned out far better than the first ones, not that the first ones were bad but the guys just nailed it this time around. BAD NEWS on actor did not show up so I had to a buddy into take that role. Lucky for us he has worked with me in the past and felt pretty comfortable with the role, only thing is he is 20+ years younger so the character itself is changed, completely. another thing I had to change a scene location last minute because of a constant humming from the location. Would've been a cool scene to shoot in but now it is just a hallway, kinda of disapointing but we made it work.

Side note - I might have a girl locked in for the College Girl!!!! Finally, but now I need to recast Caller #2 - but that should be easy.

More updates to come!

UPDATE: Cancelled again for the August 17th shoot. I think the scheduling is the worst part.

Hopefully we can shoot on September 22nd or 29th.

UPDATE: Another casting fall through. Pushing ahead with a shoot on 9/29 to get a good portion done and scrambling to get another girl cast. If not I will figure it out. One word - FRUSTRATED!

UPDATE: FINALLY finished shooting all the footage this past weekend! Even without a "Victim" character cast I shot the remaining parts of the "Caller." With that the woman who let me use her house to shoot was gracious enough to let me use her in the FILM!!!! Thank you, MEG!!!! did about another 6 or 7 hours of editing since and the film is really coming together. Should be on pace to release on the November date! Not bad considering the casting issues that delayed the project three times.

UPDATE: Have a nice edit of the whole short laid out and in place. I need to tweak about 25 things to fine tune the short and then the movie is finished! I am hoping to wrap it up by Tuesday afternoon. Once that is done I am going to have 4 or 5 people I know who have not read the script watch the film and let me know what they think. I will either release to public after that time or do some more tweaking based on the reviews I get. It always feels good when you see the light at the end of the tunnel approaching :)

UPDATE: First release is out to a few people I know so I can get the things that my eyes have missed. Had some really good feedback thus far and plan on completely tweaking this weekend. Should be ready for the release next week...but will hold off until the end of the month, more and likely.

UPDATE:

Had an editor friend check out the film to look over some of the final details and he had some good things to point out. One more edit and this thing is ready to be released. Took off 11/16 and 11/19 from Work...should have the director's cut (a little longer) and release version(hope to trim about 3 minutes off) and DVD created by the end of day 11/19 - uploaded to MP that day.
