Inside Man

This was one of the coolest trailers I've seen in awhile. It really put the movie on the map for me and got me excited to see it.

Then yesterday I found out Spike Lee directed it. My expectations took a serious dive.

I mean what was the last good movie Spike Lee made? Oh yeah, Do The Right Thing, 60 years ago. I can see why the marketing team made a calculated decision not to mention his name as it's synonomous with sh*t. I have no idea why he's still working.

Well, let's hope that he just follows the script and makes a, gasp, good movie for once.

I liked 25th hour... but that's just me.

It's funny, we were talking about this one in class today. One of my teachers thinks that his name isn't anywhere near it becasue of too many outbursts at Nicks' games.

I like spike lee's films. They're not all home runs but come on, the man has skills and things to say.

This trailer looks great. I'm anxious to down load it....I mean go to see it.

:shakes head: I guess there's really no point of arguing this with you. Have you seen Malcolm X or He Got Game or 4 Little Girls or Son of Sam or 25th Hour? Probably not. The guy has skills.

No doubt he's a great filmmaker, I just don't like his take on some subjects, which I'm not going to get into on the board.

Doesn't it say directed by Spike Lee towards the end of the trailer?

Well the one i saw in theaters a few months back did.

I liked 25th Hour, 4 Little Girls, and uhhh how about Malcom X?

Darn Shaun Patrick beat me.

i can agree with that.

I saw this trailer and it captivated me as well to want to see the movie. Clive Owen looks like he plays a very good part, and since seeing Sin City I've been very impressed with him, as of late. Denzel Washington usually pulls his own as well.

Yeah! Don't forget Bamboozled!

Yeah, you might be getting a bit too harsh with spike -- although I will admit I have thought certain things have been iffy with him.

Like what was with the repeat speech in 25th hour? Did anyone notice that Ed Norton makes the EXACT same complaining-about-new-york speech that is made in Do The Right Thing? He talks about the different racial classes and rants and blah blah blah, and it's good -- but how can he do that and get away with it?

Yeah, I guess I'm being a little harsh on him. And I definitely include my opinion of Lee as a person in judging his films. And let's just say I don't think very highly of him as a person (I believe he's borderline racist). It's the same thing with Sean Penn. His performances suffer in my eyes cause I cannot detach them from Sean Penn the person, who is a miserable humorless unlikeable human being.

Anyway, after seeing Crooklyn, I vowed to never see a Spike Lee film again, but have been forced by powers beyond my control to watch his films intermittently since. Every one has been bad, so I have no intention of seeking out his other films (which I just heard were bad).

I think Spike Lee is creative. I love malcolm X and thought Denzel should have won an Oscar for his performance

I can't agee with you more.

It was really stiff competition but i felt either X or Eastwood's Munny performance deserved the Oscar over Pacino's Colonel Slade.

I think that Spike is a great director, for example, Girl 6 I thought was great and I really believe that he is talented and elicits great performances from his cast.

I don't know how I feel about this film in general, but it has the potential to be decent... It doesn't make me want to run out to the theatre, but I'm curious. I'll most likely wait for it to come out on video...

I think he is a good director, I've seen interviews where he's been very arrogant and also ones where he seems like the nicest guy.... He can make film though and I look forward to seeing how he directs this kind of film....
