12 minute record limit - it's obvious how awful this is and eliminates this camera from doing anything that needs critical capture of an event. For me its for experimental art and controlled shoots, so I don't mind that limitation. I'm not sure of the record limit on the GH1, but if it's limited to memory card, that rocks.

Is this really the case? Only 12 minutes?
I found this on the canon website:
"The EOS 5D Mark II is the first digital EOS camera to offer recording of Full HD video in Live View Mode. Capable of shooting clips almost half an hour long at full 1080p resolution"
I thought the record time was limited to how big the card is?
The 5D uses a FAT32 file system which is limited to 4GB record time. For HD, that amounts to 12 minutes. For SD it's closer to 30 minutes. Doesn't matter how big your card is, you can only record up to 4GB at a time. Now once it stops, you can start again (assuming it isn't having any overheating problems). For most people, 12 minutes is more than enough for most shoots...since we usually shoot for a few minutes, stop, and start again from another take or different angle.
