I work as the in-house video specialist for Inmar, so when promotional videos arise, I end up wearing a lot of hats and having a very small crew usually. Such is the life of in-house video production work I suppose.
We shot this over one day at Graylyn International Conference Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Though my primary specialty is cinematography, I scripted, produced, co-directed and edited this piece, as well as shot it. I'm not a great actor's director, so I hired on a very good directing buddy of mine as one of my three man crew. Outside of him, there was a G/E swing and a Boom Operator. So, very little crew. Most of the budget went into the location, hiring talent, and supplementing the gear I have on hand here with some rentals.
We had a Matthews Doorway with skate wheels and 16 ft of track for the dolly shots. The outdoor scenes are all natural lighting, the indoor were natural daylight from the windows with a pushed key from a 1.2k PAR HMI head through a 6x6 of bleached muslin. Fill and backlight was achieved with a pair of 4ft4bank Kinos with Daylight bulbs. Accents from ambient natural tungsten units in the room, and some shaping accents with a 650w and 300w tungsten fresnels.
