Ingesting clips into FCP 6.0.5

Ok, I installed the AVC-Intra decoder for Mac from Panasonic's site. Open up FCP 6.0.5 and go into Log and Transfer and add the folder that has the files on my desktop. I get an error telling me FCP cannot import the files. How is everyone else getting theirs in FCP?

I have done the transcoding from Toast and did not like the process. Isnt there a way to import my clips into FCP and let it do the transcoding to Prores422?

Any help is surely appreciated.

Oh wait. Do I need to copy the folder structure over with the files or am I able to just copy the MTS files by themselves? Could this be one reason I cannot import into FCP L&T?

i just plug in my sd reader or hd with the mts files and LOG AND TRANSFER finds them in a few moments. I do keep as close to the folder structure as possible, so that might have something to do with it, I don't know why it would though.

Ok, that might explain why I am having problems with L&T. I just went into the folder and copied my MTS files to the HDD without the folders. Shame though because I formatted my card and don't know if there is other information in that folder or others that is needed. Ill shoot some stuff tonight and then plug my card into my reader and copy the entire folder contents and see if that does the trick and then report back here.

Yeah, you have to have the directory structure in place to log/transfer using Final Cut. But at least you don't have to have it on the actual card to do it.

experienced the same thing. fcp and l&t couldnt see the mts files.
after researching, os and qt version MUST be UP TO DATE
somebody confirm this
