Doesn't Look Low- Budget To Me.

It doesn't look low-budget to me. Good use of non-professional talent.
It not only looks good, but it completely conveys the message of the company.
Great job.

Thanks.

Was like a three-way test-shoot.

the company, the bureau and me check eachother out.

I know this is not super fun, but the client was happy, and hopefully they'll bring me some bread and butter down the road. They'll need a lot of video the next year and they're quite big in their market.

Lots of stuff I aint super-happy with, though. But the comp'ed timelapse works quite well.

The composition first total shot is great. The video inserted in the gate after the alarm goes, no. It would be better a cut. The other shots are not my visual cup of tea but we already discussed this over your reel. And being the videomaker for a company like that is a fantastic move jobwise.

I dunno.

This is mostly about giving the client what he asks for...

I'm not too happy about many of these shots, and that has absolutely nothing with my 35mm remark -;) I put this one out to get suggestions - even though this particular gig is done. And if my 35mm remark choked off a discussion, I'm sorry! -;)

I put it out, to get some advice, really - not a pat on my back.
I'd still like to do the next ones (a lot) better -;) The most impressing thing about the whole thing thus far is the clients standing...

I really like to plan comps, but I feel a bit at loss in bad-lit, high contrast situations. (forget the lack of actors)
I don't know enough about light!

I think maybe the worst mistake I'm doing, is to go for "the average" which basically turns out to nothing. I should maybe have shot the indoors in a darker tone. Dunno!

OK. These are kinda stupid complaints.
I have plenty of gigs, and am a happy camper and lucky bastard. And I know this is not "art" as such. It's basicaly me paying the rent, but still. Boring.

But still...

Ah... Ramblings...

there are a couple of shots, early on in the edit, that feel like "jump cuts"
you do cross the line a few time's.

Nice looking spot. Professional, clean and well-communicated. I'd say it holds up well considering that you felt like there were compromises made to get it done.
