Can someone give me a necessary schooling on Underwater Housing for my Canon 7D before I purchase one, I have seen some wide ranges in pricing from "Bags" to actual high class Stuctured Plastic Housing. I have a trip to the Bahamas and do not want to pass up any underwater shots!

Thanks,
Don

why not get the gopro? You'll have a 2nd cam for aggressive shots and you don't necessarily have to risk your main cam on the possibility of a product defect.

Just offering an opinion. I dont have experience with underwater housing for DSLRs

Schooling ? I have done a lot of stills in housings. not much vid yet.

1) its impossible

2) its expensive !

Random thoughts

The bags can be OK on or around the surface if you are super careful - personally I consider them to be splashproof and not dive with them

A housing is an investment you probably need a dome port too and maybe a focus device for your lens

Brands.. SeaAndSea, Ikelite, Subal etc

Under water magnifies, you will most likely need a 11-16 I guess

Thinking under water is a challenge let alone shooting

Id say the whole game is a rich mans sport, unless you go GoPro

I use dicapac bag in my underwater shots. I use the 11-16 tokina with it. Used it in pools and open water. It is challenging but it is doable.
