Just a quick question. I can set the focus to auto or manual buy way of the switch on the side, but I can not switch it to infinty.
To switch just won't go.
Is this some kind of momentary switch in that position?
The manual leads you to beleave that you can switch it into infinity mode, but mine just won't go and I don't want to break it.

Thanks! ???

Re: .infinity focus switch

No. I can't even switch the switch to the infinity position in any mode or with the camera off.

Re: .infinity focus switch

no no no.. its a momentary switch that basically resets your focus point to close to infinity.. its supposed to be quicker than spinning the focus ring back to 90+.. but by the time you find the button and press it it probally will shake the camera and take longer anyways.

Re: .infinity focus switch

i cant remember for sure, so this info may be completely useless, but i think the infinity swith is just a momentary thing that you push the swith to , and it quickly focuses to infinity when in the manual focus mode.  there is no infinity mode.... ok just checked the manual and it is in there. it clearly states that the swith will return to the manual mode after infinity focus has been established. hope this helps :)

here.. is the manual explanation on the side..the weird symbol is the infinity symbol so i put (infinity) next to it

FFOCUS switch
This is used to select the method of
controlling the focus.
A (AUTO):
Auto focus mode
M (MANUAL):
Manual focus mode
The focus ring H is controlled manually to
adjust the focus. ‡(infinity) :
After the focal length has been set to
infinity, the manual focus mode is
established. Even if the FOCUS switch is
set to the ‡ (infinity) position, it will return to the M
(MANUAL) position.
OEven when the manual focus mode is
established, the AUTO button K setting
takes priority if it is pressed.
OIf flicker occurs, the auto focus control may
not be exercised properly, so select a
shutter speed suited to the lighting. (See
page 29)
OIn the progressive mode, the manual focus
mode is established.

Re: .infinity focus switch

Thank guys!
The manual should read like the previous post.

its a momentary switch that basically resets your focus point to close to infinity.. its supposed to be quicker than spinning the focus ring back to 90+.. but by the time you find the button and press it it probally will shake the camera and take longer anyways.

It's like finding that stupid little Iris wheel. ;D
