Inexpensive 2nd camera to work with EX1

I need an affordable 2nd/backup camera that I can mix w/ EX1. Ideally, this is what I'd like to have:

-under $2000
-1080 60i capability
-records to flash media

The only one I've found so far is the Canon HF-S100 - I know it's bad in low light but has anyone used this camera?

Other suggestions?

There are new Canons coming out march and april just like the HFS100 that will have native 24p, if you can wait those might be a good choice.

The Canon 7d is a good 2nd cam for closeups and boketh shots.

If you want a cam that will integrate perfectly with the Ex1 I think the sony NX cam thats coming out is worth a look but its much more than your price point.

I cut this concert footage together with a 2 camera shoot. One camera was an EX1, and one was an HV20 Vixia. It's the original tape model, but it's basically the same. It is a drag to blend HDV and XDcam in a timeline, but they look OK after I color corrected them to match.

I find that I can deinterlace the HV20 footage from the "ConductorCam"™ right in the Premiere timeline, and it looks okay. I'm planning to shoot the next concert in HV20's 24p mode instead of 60i, so I can improve the resolution and be Blu-ray-compliant with progressive footage. It does suffer the jaggies, but so did the V1U cams when I was using them.
The other difference is I had to get rid of the greenish cast to shadows in the HV20 and warm up skin tones. But it's the only camera that I own that will fit on a 6" depth shelf in the orchestra shell, 12' up in the air.

I've got one of these little Sony HDR-XR520. Great sensitivity, seems to match the EX pretty well, records to either internal HDD or memorystick slot. With 240GB HDD I havn't bought any MS media, the camera acts as an archive. AVCHD is a bugger to post but I have attached my nanoFlash and recorded EX codec from it no problem (I've even done this as a way to edit the AVCHD footage, log it to a nanoFlash then copy the nanoFlash files for editing).

Addition: This little unit does not seem to suffer from any IR issue either.

JVC HM100 - sort of PDX-10 in XDCAM.

After playing with one for an afternoon, I wasn't convinced. But having been presented with rushes from somebody who knew how to operate it and play to its strengths, I am now a fan. Great for stealing shots in city centres, works under street lighting at night, won't get you in trouble at dodgy airports, fits in the corner of a windscreen for those in-car shots. Nice wangle available, too.

Couldn't give you full Picture Profile analysis, but shoots onto SD in QT or BPAV format, so pretty much invisible compatibility with EX rushes.

I have mixed the HFS100 with the EX1 footage but only for small segments in the timeline. The footage looks fine. I have mixed it with HVX200A as well and for short quick cuts if CC it looks fine. I actually like the little camera for it's 1.7 built in tele capabilities. We recently crossed the border in Zimbabwe and I was able to film the armed guards from afar and get some great footage without them noticing. Try that with the EX1 and you'd been shot!!
