industry response to 300

Just wanted to know what other 300 owners have encountered in the industry re the 300. In Australia I haven't seen any hire companies buy them, and I've met a few people who have almost been hostile in their assessment of the camera. I swear most of them are just parroting what they have read and I think that talk has driven the price down and forced an update from Panasonic. I showed a doco I shot to one editor at a post house and he couldn't believe it was a 300. I think he honestly thought the 300 would skew like an iphone. Skew has been a non issue for me.

The only complaint I have with the 302 is that in low light it is very ordinary but most of my work is lit anyway so it doesn't really bother me. I don't think it would cut it as a news camera. I chose this camera over a 500 and I don't regret it, I looked at the 500 for ages but to me it just looked soft. It felt like a sideways step from my 2/3 inch SD camera ( which I still use for some clients ).

My clients have all been happy with the results but the general industry has seemed to dismiss it. Curious to hear what has everyone else found ?

Well, I've been quite happy with my 300 and honestly don't care what other industry folks have to say as long as I'm still making money with it. My clients have been thrilled with the quality and several have remarked how much better the footage looks now that I'm no longer shooting on a JVC GY-HD110.

Be that as it may, there will ALWAYS be someone who doesn't like your camera, says it's crap and has all sorts of flaws, etc. They probably purchased the competitor's camera and feel the need to justify their purchase. It just doesn't matter unless you're going 100% freelance and need to have the "it" camera that "everyone" wants (is there such a thing?). Then I can see it could become an issue.

JI don't think it would cut it as a news camera.
KMGH-TV, the ABC affiliate in Denver is using all 300s for their ENG crews. Must be OK for their purposes.
