thanks a lot,
for the colors i used the reversal preset from Barry Green that s why sometimes it looks over saturated

seb,

this is one of the best skateboarding videos i have ever seen. everything works together very well. i could even watch more of your cityscapes and local people.

during our weekly video premiere at woodward camp, i was having problems with the projector. i happened to have your earlier version on my laptop, so i played that for all the video production campers before the premiere. the campers were stoked!

Kudos!

Getting around Jakarta and Bali is no easy feat. Plus the humidity in JKT is unbearable for skating. Nice one!

Sebastian, this was amazing. I didn't even get to finish it, but the first 3rd that I saw was absolutely amazing. I always love your work. I have a few questions:

-What fisheye do you use?
-You shoot PAL right?
-What shutter speeds/angles do you generally use for filming skateboarding?
-What do you use for color grading?
-Is there any way i could get an NTSC DVD of this??

the DOF looks incredible with that lens! i thought it had been done in post before i read what kit you had used.

hey,
i use a 16 ex fisheye i shoot in pal yes, generally i shot at 250 / 500 ( 120 with a letus)
i CC with the 3 way of final cut and a bit of magic bullet
there s no copy of it in dvd yet
:)

That was awesome... I've been trying to find "doc" footage shoot with the HPX170/HVX200 and a mini35 and this is one of the best examples i have seen. Did you find the letus good for this work? Were you using a 16mmex fish eye on the letus? Did the letus stay on your camera the whole time? were you using an external monitor?

once again, awesome work.

Wait so your fisheye footage was on the Letus too? Which 16mm lens did you use? Nikkor?

What scene files do you usually shoot with?

That was suburb! very well filmed and edited.

I shoot skateboarding myself but with just the stock HVX...

How many cameras did you take along on the trip???

the fisheye footage wasn t with the letus,
i shot with this >

for this trip i had for the letus a 50 mm and a 28 mm both are canon fd ssc lens

and the scene i often shot are was the "reversal" and "the color" ones from barry green

:)

Ohh the 16x9 inc EX fisheye? Wonderful!

The reason I asked was that I have been wanting to get a fisheye for my HVX, but can't afford that $2,800 century extreme fisheye. I have seen footage with the 16x9 inc fisheye before, and I never liked it. But your footage is amazing, and definitely making me reconsider the lens! Of course I'm a vx1000/MK1 user, so nothing will ever be able to match that, but I'd like to be able to come close.

yeah filming with that fisheye need a lot of practice because of the 16:9 format instead of 4:3 and because the distorsion is not like a mk1, of course it s better to have the century lens but the price was to high for me too

Is it disappointing going from a mk1 to that lens? Or is it not that bad. Is there at least close to as much distortion as a MK1? Or not even close? Have you tried filming lines with it? Is it hard?

Nicely done documentary.
When I shot with my HVX and SGPRO, I always have a hard time with a highlight from the polluted sky in Jakarta that most of the time will get blown out of proportion.
I saw it there too in the documentary.
Did you open the iris in the camera wide open everytime? Did you use the camera ND in the documentary?
BTW, thanks for visiting my beloved shabby and poluted city...:)
