indirails vs cavision

I'm looking for a rails + shoulder mount + follow focus solution and I'm wondering what people think of the indifocus versus what cavision has to offer.
It seems like cavision is slightly more expensive but it also looks to have a little better build quality.

I'll mostly be using it with a vdslr but sometimes may want to put a bigger cam on it too.

I'm hesistant about indifocus projects. My experience tells me that you get what you pay for, and indifocus stuff tends to be on the cheaper side. While this doesn't necessarily mean that it's of lesser quality, that tends to be the case with camera gear. I haven't spoken to anyone personally who glows about products from indifocus, and that's another reason I would be inclined to spend the extra money to make sure I get something extremely well built.

I have the indifocus stuff. Rails FF matte box slider. I really enjoy them. I think its a great bang for the buck. I have only experienced Cavision stuff at NAB. I was not a huge fan. If Indi is not your speed check out Zacutto or Red Rock. I dig my Indi gear.

Indisystem has some new DSLR rigs too.

I have used both rails(no mattebox or other gear) and I think the Cavision was a better setup. I had the cavision with my redrock and it was easy to setup and seemed very stable. I sold that setup and now have a letus extreme with indirails. They work great and are very light but the rods have some flex to them and the base is a pain to setup. There are seperate screws in different sizes with washers and they do not stay connected to the base. Every time I break the setup down I have to make sure to keep the correct screw and washers from getting misplaced and then resetup next time. To mount the screw to the camera, you have to reach through the small area to hand tighten and than feed an allen wrench through the block to tighten. The cavision has the the mounting screw built in and is much easier to setup and break down.
Just my 2 cents.

I've used the Cavision rails and the Cinevate rails myself and found that while the single screw mechanism on the Cavision block seems cool initially, it gets to be a pain after a while. The rails also were not completely uniform, but it may have just been the set I was using.

With the Cinevate rails and the rail blocks were easy to use. Adjusting the rail block is easy with separate knobs/screws for each rail. Never had a problem there or any annoyance. I also own he solid carbon rails and the hollow carbon rails and they both rock. Light, rock steady, beautiful.

Check out Cinevate for sure. No parts to go wandering either.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I'm checking out the indiRAILSpro XV and wondering if it'll work with my Redrock setup.

Are all rail systems standard?
