IndiFocus - Tim Ovel MIA?

I have been trying to get in contact with Tim for nearly a year about purchasing a bogen adapter to go with my IndiSlider since I can no longer use the current setup with a different tripod than I originally purchased the slider for.

I have called, left several dozen messages, and sent countless emails. He doesn't call back, he doesn't answer emails...WTF?

Has anyone had contact with him lately?

There are all kinds of exciting new products on the page so he must still be in business, but he never communicates with customers.

If I could, I would just order it off the page, but apparently it's a special order that you have to contact him for.

Can anyone help me get in contact with him?

Thanks,

Hah, I feel your pain!
I wanted to purchase a few sliders and a matte box from him as well. I saw him at NAB this year in Vegas and he gave me his card. It took me two months of calling to finally get a hold of him.
At one point I was talking to him and he told me he was driving through a major thunder storm and that his phone might cut out.... and it did. Took me two weeks to get him again.
But it was worth the effort. While the mattebox is fairly decent, the sliders are great for the price.
Good luck!

I'm in the same boat as you! Countless emails, and phone calls haven't gotten me any closer!

I was 'lucky' enough to get Tracy on the phone unfortunately she couldn't answer any of my questions and promised to have Tim call me back, both times I spoke to her!

I sometimes wonder who's doing who a favor here. Granted he does offer a great price on his products, but his support is horrible. Cool Lights offers the same value in lights and I had a piece break, wrote them an email and got a response the same day!

For a few bucks more I think i'll start looking around for other companies that offer customer support - i cant imagine having to deal with them if something breaks.

I agree , its hard to get a hold of him. I ordered the focus pro, indiriser and matte box last week. The order was done over the phone. Havent received it yet but he did say he was waiting on some parts for the matte box. I cant do anything untill I get my smallhd dp6 monitor anyways so im not in too big of a hurry.

For the style and quality, you will have to spend at least double on most of his products.

All i can say is just keep calling. You'll eventuallly get through. He's supper nice and gives great advice.

I couldnt get a hold of him for the past 3 days and called around 10:30am today. A woman named Tracy picked up and said my order shipped yesterday. I was happy to hear that and expected to see it in a couple days but when I got back from lunch break today , my order came was here. He must have next dayed it to me.

Cant wait to through up some pics in the RIG THREAD!!!

Got the same response; talked to him 3x at NAB-2011 with agreements to purchases several complete sets of gear; he said 2x he would call us. After NAB we tried calling him 5x over 2 weeks and finally gave up.

I wouldn't bother with emails or leaving a voicemail.

I called during regular business hours (9-5) and spoke with Tracy the first time and Tim the second.

You gotta call. If you don't have the time, make the time.

Hope this helps.

I've caled and called and called during business hrs and I to am having issues getting a call back. It's bad business practice if you ask me, especially when people are spending their hard earned money and need product support and issues with his equipment ironed out. No excuse.

I used to love the personable touch he used to have before he started getting big but now it seems he has falling into the same trap as others with once humble beginnings.

I ordered an Indifocus Pro when they first came out. When the order finely shipped it was incomplete with missing parts. After leaving numerous emails and messages, I spoke to Tim on the phone who said the parts were on his bench and he would ship them right out. The parts never came, and I have never done business with them again.

I've had several orders with them and, while it's true that phone is really the only way to actually get in touch with them, every order I've placed has shipped quickly and has been exactly what I ordered. Not only that, I got an indiFocus mini from him a while back, and a couple of days after it arrived my camera rig toppled over and snapped the focus knob off. He sent me a replacement gear box the next day at no charge.

Tim's always been very helpful by phone, in my experience.
