Indiesystem gear

Hi all,

I was browsing through indisystem's website and they seem to have some great prices for various items. Has anyone bought/used their gear? Is it reliable for the price? Are they reliable?

I'm interested in the rail system and follow focus (I'll be damned if I can get a decent focus change by hand). They also have a neat looking 8 foot jib (but that's for another time).

I've been using their IndiFocus Mini for about 6 mo. now. I didn't like the Snap gears that came with the order and have replaced them with individual lens gears from Wide Open Camera in LA http://wideopencamera.com/cheap-lens-gears/. These gears are held on snugly with zip ties and are a standard FF pitch. No complaints with customer service and reliability from IndiSystem.

I personally love the snap gears, have been using their mattebox, some rails, and the follow focus. The updated follow focus I find has a piece on the inside the cracks more easily which allows for more play down the road, but nothing that is unusable. The snap gears are a joy and super easy to setup, the mattebox requires frequent attention i find because of the plastic construction and pieces that either get loose or too tight. But again, they work well, and i save a lot of money. I would not, however, feel comfortable renting this stuff out. I think it's great for the budget filmmaker who takes care of his or her gear.

I like their Snap Gears. Only issue is that, for certain lens, you may have to use some tape inside the gear to make it fit nice and tight around the lens. Overall fast to use and easy to carry around.

The rails are light but not very good quality. Anyway its cheap so i keep them as spare rods.
