I picked one of these up used on Ebay and got a great deal on it. Now I just gotta get some cash for some filters so I can really see how well it works. Overall, it seems like a great alternative to spending $600+ for a matte box.

Hi DM_rider, nice mattebox. How much you get it for from Ebay? Here are two pictures of my home-made DIY mattebox. The mattebox is made of perforated plastic boards which are super light & sturdy enough for run & gun shooting outdoors.

The black cap that attaches to the front lens of my DVX was recycled from a plastic container's lid & the other end of the lid actually screws unto the black plastic lid sandwiching & holding in place the Mattebox.

The sheet of peforated board costed $7.50, a roll of black duct tape costed $5.00 & the plastic lid is probably worth only 40 cents. So all in all, I spent about $13.90.

I payed $150, but it's not just a giant sunshade, it's an actual matte box.

The only thing that kind of sucks is you can't rotate the filters unless you rotate the whole matte box. But for $150 I can't complain.
