Indiana Jones 4

I hated Temple for that very reason, all the over the top BS.

This movie makes TOD look like a joke!

We don't have to like them all do we??

I agree Temple isnt as good as the rest, but technique-wise it was still up to par. It looks and feels like an Indiana Jones movie. And the over the top stuff like falling off the cliff and out of the plane were slightly more believable because at least you were looking at physical effects.

Maybe. All I remember thinking when I saw it was that it was a pile of BS.
The entire movie felt like a roller coaster ride with very little substance.

Just my opinion. Crusade managed to capture some of the magic back for me.

That's fine but I don't find it personal because they will never read it.

It's not what you do when people are watching, it is what you do when they aren't.

We have gotten the truth! Captain Mench of San Francisco is actually George Lucas! Howdy, George! When are you going back to making those experimental films you've been talking about for 30 years now and leaving your beloved franchises alone?

Indeed!! You know, he lost his passion about 30 years ago. Watching the trailer for another Lucas 'reach-in-my-pants-and-pull' (out my money) film (Star Wars Colon Wars sic) eased me right into what I was about to see and expect with the Indy film.

Sorry, I don't think it's right to insult people to their face or behind their back.

Bottom Line: Mark nailed the outcome of this movie a long time ago. Regardless of his remark towards Lucas.

I agree with his and everyone else's remarks towards Lucas.
Everything he touches lately turns to crap.

Time to stop rehashing the old stuff and do something new. Either that or call it a day.

Spielberg will bounce back. He has a much more proven track record.

Cheers,

Mike

It almost seems like you are willing to accept it though? Why?
You don't have to eat what they're serving you. I won't give him a dime by going to another viewing or buying the DVD.

Bingo!! Another perfect comment. (and thanks for the clarification on the other part I didn't quote. - point taken)

I also must say that I believe Spielberg is a better emotion-teller than story-teller. Sometimes he has better stories to tell, (Color Purple, Schindler's), but his true gift is driving the emotions of his audience. His composer and editor help a lot... but so does his direction. AI holds up for me because of this, Ryan holds up because of this (despite both of their plot faults)... Close Encounters and ET were driven by this... Munich ONLY exists because of it... of course Jaws is a case-study in it.

Skull? Well... I will again say it kept me interested. OH... one caveat - I liked King Kong too, maybe I should have said that at the beginning of all this mess.

Saw it today. Bottom line? A fun time at the movies.

Its pure entertainment. Yes, its over the top, ridiculous at times when you consider plot and closure, but its good ol' entertainment, the likes of which we don't see much more nowadays.

A lot better than the Fantastic Four's and that pile of garbage that normally monopolize the screens in the summer...

Still fun, still Indy.

A worthy movie to the franchise- however, like most say, the first and the third are indeed still the better ones, IMO. The plot of this one is just, well, too predictable, picks up on a modern myth that has been used to death- film goers know what I mean- and while always entertaining, just pushes the boundaries of "cheese" too much.

Tarzan, for example, would be rolling on his grave. :)

But definetly worth watching, IMO. Its Indy, the action is 100% Indy, the directing is pure Spielberg- and him having fun! - and the writting, or story, well, is Lucasish and Spielbergish.

Just take it for what it is, and enjoy the ride!

Already hit 297Million in a matter of 4 days...SM3 the highest grossing movie of 2007 didn't even get to 300million that quick. Looks like the whole risk in the payout for those involved will go in their favor.

I wonder where it'll hit in the next week...

Didn't have a chance to read the whole thread but thought I'd chime in. Worst. Movie. Ever.

Carry on.

Hey DVXusers,

Just a couple quick rules so we can set the groundwork for discussing films.
  • Don’t threadcrap. If someone posts about a film and you don’t like it, feel free to state your reasons why you didn’t enjoy it. However, don’t come blasting with “The Guns of Navarone” and say, “Gee, Jane Whatsherface sucks. She makes me ill. I spit on her.” Not cool. Say it once, back it up, and move on.

Co-signed.

I'm going to threadcrap cuz filmguy123 did my work for me back on page 34. Fully backed.

About 20 minutes into the film I realized I did NOT want to be in that theatre.

Did you get your money back? After 20 minutes I did.
After sitting through Transformers I promised myself that I wouldnt spend another $22 for my wife and I to sit through a film that we were not going to enjoy.

Come on people it was a movie!! I liked the atomic blast. I liked the ants. I like the Ark at the beginning. Ford played the part of an old Indiana Jones. That was the whole idea. They didn't want him to be 35 again. The tarzan and the monkey part was stupid. It was kind of Indy Jones meets Close Encounters. They should have had Richard Dreyfuss inside one the air tight suits!!

But I was entertained for two hours.

Dude, no. I wish I did. $22 bucks, that sounds all too familiar.

I came to the conclusion this weekend that skateboarding is the one thing from my youth that still does not disappoint. Trying to get the same thrill that I got from Raiders....meh, not so much.

BTW, I want to add-Karen Allen is sooooo out of practice as an actor. My wife and I watched Raiders Saturday night in anticipation....and if you compare her performances....it's night and day.

No way is it as good as the first one. I can't say I like the second or third Indy movies more than the first one either.

But this wasn't like walking out of No Country for Old Men either.( what happened?) A least it had a ending. The good guy gets the woman in the end. All the bad guys get killed. The stupid kid didn't get the hat either.

So much hate... :)

The Dark Side is tempting you, guys...

It's just a movie.

And a popcorn one,.. by default.

Raiders was popcorn, smart popcorn. So was Last Crusade.

Temple of Doom was stupid popcorn.

Let's see what kind of popcorn will we get now.
