Indi Ultra Compact good for gh1 & af101?

I attached a picture of the rig with the Flip cage Upgrade. Also as a DVX sponsor we have a 10% off coupon for DVX members. Just type in dvxuser.com at check out and it takes 10% off your order.

I am completely confused.
As on your link I see different cage, different handles, etc.
All this upgrades are also misleading, as they are not on the item page.
May be better option will be to make temporary sale discount (allowing option to use standard rods and standard cage)?

Just found a pretty unbiased review today over at Cheesy Cam of the field runner.

I have big doubts in CheesyCam reviews as this site make money by linking to Amazon, eBay, and also to Jag35.
Plus same difference with rig on Jag35 site and actual item reviewed.

decided to go for the indi but having a real struggle trying to actually order the thing - fill in all my details for customer info, hit checkout button, but it keeps saying payment failed, had done for few days now - sent support an email; but not heard anything from them - has anyone else had problems here - have the funds in my bank & filling order form correctly.....no joy
bit frustrating, is their customer support a bit thin on the ground, is there a holiday in the U.S. im unaware of?
will take a closer look at all the other rigs already mentioned - many thanks for all the suggestions

Yeah, always check all the options. Think yourself.
As for Indie support - just call them by phone.
They are very small business. And as far as I know they now have dedicated girl to answer all phone calls.

Thats why I included the picture in the post, so people would see what the upgraded rig looks like. As its an option you can either order it with or wothout the flip cage and heavy duty rods. Your choice in what you get, the rig can be shipped like either picture. I can see your point about listing it with options on the link.

Also we just sent out a ton of gear to our new distributor in Germany. The site is under construction but will soon be up and running;

OP mentioned an EU source I beleive.

hi just thought i'd report back now that i have the indi ultra compact
1st things - when i finally ordered, it arrived at my door in the UK in 2 days - pretty damn impressive
my initial impressions are good - for the price it feels fairly solid, in fact I like the overall weight & feel of of it - some folk felt it was too heavy but this is what i felt i needed particularly using a gh1 or canon 550d, it was all too lightweight handheld, micro jitters etc. I will add some weight to the back of the shoulder support though - as with all of these supports i think counter balance would help make it feel more like a shoulder cam & easier on your arms
i love the flexibility of the rig - can adjust pretty much everything to suit - & the base plate area is different from what is shown on the website - you can adjust the height of the camera quite a lot - I was able to mount the gh1 & use the evf & fairly quickly adjust so that i could then use the lcd
the c bracket is also handy for mounting just about anything you want - i had a mic, zoom h4n & vidled light on there & it all felt pretty solid - & can go from on the shoulder to tripod in seconds. the rails will also come in handy when i eventually get a follow focus
havent tried it with my hmc151 yet but there is plent of room under the c bracket if i needed to keep that on for additional light, mic etc
i am sure there are better rigs around, but for about £200 (fortunately didnt get snagged by the customs man on its way here) - i think this is good value for money

I am glad that you like the rig.
As I said, this is ready to run solution.
Order it, assembly in few seconds, mount all your stuff, and go shooting.
It is in no way perfect rig. But it works very good.

Update

just got my af101 & unfortunately it really doesnt work very well with the indi rig, the c bracket is not quite high enough to fit above the af101 which seems a much taller camera than my old hmc151. Also & more importantly, because of its height & that of the view finder I cant get the camera low enough to use the vf without having the shoulder pad at a rediculous angle which negates its use to take any load off my arms.....therefore i am now selling the ultra compact here

Does anyone know of a shoulder support rig of similar price that will work with the Panasonic AF101?
thanks

Looking at getting a shoulder mount for my gh1 but with a view to also getting an af101 eventually - will this set up handle both scenarios?
with gh1 & lens i would be adding zoomh4n, & possibly video light, & when i have to a mic on shock mount
with the af101 there would possibly be the light & mic added
i may also be getting a follow focus soon, so was hoping to get a support with the right size rods - this seems to be the case, how solid is this rig, will the rods be appropriate for use with ff?
Also i presume i can take the 'c' bracket with top handle off when using the af101?
Sorry for all the questions, just finding it hard to visualize the scale of it particularly with the af101 on it
One last thing, is there anywhere in the uk or at least europe where i can get this without the lovely customs man taking his hit when it arrives in the country
OR - if someone knows of a decent shoulder mount i can get in the uk, would love some recommendations......

Hope someone can help me out

thanks

Ade

Just look at the pictures of my post named "Sexiest (and practical) GH2 rig with SmallHD DP6 monitor" a few threads down.

It is a GREAT rig, NOT cheaply made, with counterweight option, extremely solid and configurable. It is NOT the Ultracompact (that I own as well, and I love though), it is called the "Bulldog".
Some people are saying the Ultracompact is HEAVY?? As I don't have the precise weight of the Ultracompact, the Bulldog, cousin of the Ultracompat is extremely light: just think that the rig you see in the pictures, with all of that stuff on it - Marantz recorder, Sennheiser g2 system, and DP6 monitor with their battery (and the GH2 of course) comes up to only 12 pounds. And I am pretty sure you could fit an AF100 on it, just by removing the top part (only the top part) of the "C" bar. By the way, all made in USA. It may be not so "refined" as other slim looking rigs out there, but it's a steal for the price, and you do get great quality. I have been using indisystem gear for over a year now, and I love it.

Hope this helps.

Why don't you ask Tim at Indisystem to get you the "maxi mount"? That will definitely clear the height of your Af100. The maxi mount is simply a much bigger and beefer "C" bar made to fit bigger camcorders. And yes, you can just add it to your Ultracompact and make functional and usable with your camera.

thanks for the response, yes that bulldog system came out just after I'd received the ultra compact though on the website the main image looks like the ultra compact whilst the photo gallery image looks different - dont really have an issue with the weight of it & realise i can take the top part off the c bar but i was really hoping to use it to mount a light & mic when I am filming on my own, dont trust the hotshoe of the camera to support both. I suppose i could get the larger maxi mount you mention but....
My major problem is that i cant get the viewfinder low enough to use without having to have the shoulder pad at about 45 degree angle, so its not really taking any weight just leaning against my shoulder. The mount for the camera sits too high above the rail system to be able to use the viewfinder on the af101. the rig works fine for my gh1 but I really need something for the af101, its not really designed for handheld without support
Also Im in the UK so actually felt a bit guity in the 1st place ordering from the U.S. - would prefer to buy locally but most of the interesting rigs seem to be either american or chinese based
