INDEX REMOTE jack.... how about some info Jan?

Got my Manfrotto 521PF, works pretty well. Parts on order to build a remote S/S switch - thanks Olaf for the 411 on that!

But I see the Index port, and I'm thinking how awesome it would have been to be able to have been dropping markers on the clip (for diagram cutaways) as I shot a long-winded technical training session yesterday.

1) what does the Index port do?

2) what wiring is needed to make it do the voodoo it do?

fyi, assigning Index to a user button will allow you to drop up to 100 markers per clip as you're recording. very handy sometimes!
