Incubus -- Offical Thread.

This thread is for the short film "Incubus" directed by yours truly. Evan Strobel.

I don't know how many of you will be interested in this. This is my first short. I just finished casting. I'm going to pop-up some headshots. I'll also be adding to this space as time goes on.

Nancy plays Susan - She is the Lead roll.

Nathan plays Hank - Co-Star

Numa (his real name) plays Mike - Co-Star.

Intresting things:
All their names start with N.
None of them have ever been in any high-profile work.
I pretend like I know what the hell I'm doing.

EDIT SEPT 12TH:
My rough description of the film (I've never been very good at writing these). Incubus is about a woman named SUSAN who cheats on her husband MIKE with his friend HANK. Mike puts two and two together, and he quickly realizes things are not as they appear. Mike kills his wife Susan and She is destined to repeat the day over and over again. In this "universe" the smallest things make the biggest changes.

I created a mock up poster. I'm thinking of changing the title from "INCUBUS" to "8:30" which is the time she wakes up in the morning. Yep.

Storyboarding with armatures. It's amazing.

EDIT OCT 15TH:

The plot thickens.

We had our first read throughs the other day.

The actors will probably kill me for putting these up here. I wanted them all to be blank faced for a reason (handing them off to an artist to do a hand drawn poster)

Just got around to telling all those who auditioned that they were not casted. That sucks. They were all pretty good.

Yeah. I know what you mean. Though, when I cast I don't tell the ones I don't cast... I simply do not call them. Obviously meaning they did not get the part... how did you go about the whole casting process?

Well, first I rented this room out at a Rec. Center (25 dollars an hour) for 2 and a half hours. (in hindsight I should have gotten 3 hours.) As they came through the door they were asked if they wanted a bottle of water. They were given a script and another paper to fill out. (which included questions like "are you availble to work on set if not offered the part?" etc.) The script they read from was not from the actual script. They were than to wait out in the hall while they glanced over the script. I gave everyone two chances (only 10 people showed up). The second time they read from the script they were assigned an emotion to see if they could convey it. They were also encouraged to improv their lines without looking at the script. After the audition was over I told them I'd get back to them. I think it's important to tell them if they didn't get the part so they're not waiting by the phone for weeks (lol, like they would). I asked a few questions about themselves. It was mostly breif, probably nothing new to anyone.

Good for you directinglegend. I think you should always contact everyone who took the time to audition. Or, at the very least, send them an e-mail. Thank them for their interest, and let them know they didn't get the role. It's a courtesy that a small filmmaker can and should provide.

I have a make up artist now. Weird. She has all her own stuff prostetic, gellitan etc etc. But yeah, strange.. because she's free!

I guess I should make a sci-fi movie and have her mold some people into aliens?

Nice! Free's always the best. I've worked with several makeup artists.... a good makeup artist is invaluable!
