Incredible White Balance tool : no more white balance issues

Just go one of these things called an Expodisc pro wb for digital cameras. Was about 100 and looks like a filter. You put it in front of the lens, aim it at your light source and auto wb or preset. Then take it of and shoot.

I have been struggling to get a perfect white balance with the Digital
cams in general and this sucker did it in eight seconds. I'm About to try it on red mosly because reds auto wb also does a tint adjustment.

You can get t on amazon for 100.

I'm probably late but damn this thing rocks on the D100 and D70s.

yeah the MKII LCD hasn't been very good for setting WB. I think the D90 LCD might have had a more accurate color temp.

In the early days of VHS cameras we used foam cups for WB. The view finders were B&W so you had to wait to go back to the studio to see if you got it right.

Kholi, according to the guys at ExpoImaging, you should be able to use your expodisc "as an incident ambient exposure tool (as you would with an 18% gray card)". Did you try that? That would be better than eyeballing the lcd :)

Do you mean use a grey card? I do have a set of WB Cards that I've tried to use with every camera I've got but the skin always falls short for me. It's pretty frustrating...

The ExpoDisc gets damned close if not pretty accurate so far, the CBL though in those tests, while not a marginal difference, looks even better. Definitely try the coffee filter and styrofoam cup stuff but I'm okay with spending money of it works and there's an increase in accuracy.

'togs have been using Expodiscs for yonks.
I don't have one because I'm:

1) Too mean
2) Too lazy, and
3) I shoot Raw, so will fix (Or screw it) in post.

this is a good tool but it still cant tell the difference between an orange room and an orange light (unless you recompose)

The CPL seems to do an all around better job than any of the other examples. Especially that outdoors with the lady and the baby.

Can't wait to try.

No, I mean use your expodisc to set the exposure, not only the white balance. They say it's possible since it's 18% grey. You would use your camera as an incident meter.

Ooooh okay. Sorry I misunderstood what you were saying completely. Nah I haven't tried that but I will as soon as I finish RED Rushing some footage.

Thanks for the tip. Didn't even know that.
