Incandescent bulb redux

"Usually traditional light bulbs are only about five per cent efficient, with 95 per cent of the energy being lost to the atmosphere. In comparison LED or florescent bulbs manage around 14 per cent efficiency. But the scientists believe that the new bulb could reach efficiency levels of 40 per cent."

Could be pretty interesting for lighting in general, but also for filmmaking.

We got a much better link on this other thread

this is the link (it's the original MIT shource)

And this is what it says:
Whereas the luminous efficiency of conventional incandescent lights is between 2 and 3 percent, that of fluorescents (including CFLs) is between 7 and 15 percent, and that of most compact LEDs between 5 and 15 percent, the new two-stage incandescents could reach efficiencies as high as 40 percent, the team says.
The first proof-of-concept units made by the team do not yet reach that level, achieving about 6.6 percent efficiency

There's a Taiwanese company Wisechip, that developed (or, actually, licensed) a 1900K OLED lighting technology that is claimed to develop 70 lm/w and is slated to go into production in the 4th quarter of 2017. No blue light either.
