In the US, every time I am under fluorescent lights, I want the shutter at 1/60th?

I shot the last two days under fluorescents and found the light flickering a bit in my footage. I've been doing a bit of reading and i was learning about shutter speed and fluorescents.

So......is it safe to say, that, almost always (i dont know what the exceptions would be), if im shooting in the US, I want to have the shutter at 1/60th if I'm under fluorescent lights?

Basically. Our electrical systems are all based on 60hz, so 1/60 should give you a full cycle every time. You can also slow it down in multiples, but that's your base number.

And in Europe i want to be at 1/50th under fluorescents?
It is my understanding that the European electrical systems are 50hz (cycles a second), so yes 1/50th would be preferable. I would still want to do some tests under the lighting conditions you are wanting to shoot under and try different shutter speeds to see what works best.
