i see the BLADE forum disappeared.  thats such a shame since i will be using it for my short that i start filming in april.  boo hoo for me!  

first steve disappears, now blade. this forum is beginning to take on a life of its own...

Steve had a problem with EVS's envolvement with the site, because he had an issue with them a few months ago. He was the moderator over there, and deleted all the threads so I dumped it as there was only 2 other people in there, not alot of activity.

ahhh ok. thanks for clearing that up jarred.

youre right about the blade forum not getting much action, although a couple new people posted to it just days before you took it down. and if other people are using it i will definitely have questions/answers soon, but oh well.

too bad about steve, he gave me some good info.

Yeah steve was great, and will be missed. How is you knowledge on blade? If you want I can open it up and you can mod it if you want.

unfortunately i have just been toying around with it (2 hours tops) but i plan on using it for my next short unless some rich old fart decides to give me tons of $ to buy an avid system, not likely.

at any rate maybe we could talk on this again in the fall after i am done with my current project and know whether i like or dislike blade.

I too was hoping the BLADE forum would pick up steam and help me through my difficulties with BLADE 2.

I read the problem that Steve had with someone at EVS. This forum made clear that such opinions would not be suppressed so I hope that this is not the case.

Personally I have purchased from EVS and received quick and courtesy service and will continue to do so as long as I have no unresolvable problems with EVS.

Nevertheless I hope that EVS (or any other vender) is not influencing how this forum is run. That would be a shame.

It was Steve's decision to leave.. I didn't suppress his opinions, tell him to behave or tell him to leave.. His problem with EVS stemmed from making an order for a discontinued product that he saw elsewhere and when he placed the order EVS sent him the current product that did not include a plastic case that came with the discontinued product. EVS couldn't get the case because it was no longer available, and thats where the miscommunication was made, and I even personally phoned EVS to find out exactly what happened with his order, and was satisfied with the EVS's decision, they offered to give him a refund,  But Steve was not happy with that offer.

That was a few months ago, and recently a member posted how happy they where with the service EVS game him. Steve saw the post and replied that he was unhappy, and the following responses didn't really back him up, so he got upset.  

EVS in no means dictates the site. Rush (from EVS) takes alot of time out of his day to help field purchase questions on this site and offers users a special user discount, We don't pay him to do this and he doesn't pay use for him to do this.  I am very happy that EVS spends time and resources to help our members out, and I'm not going to tell them to go away from one bad experience out of 100 good ones.

Steve had an "arrangement" with Insync to use the site to sell copies of Blade.. I had no part of that deal and I didnt make a dime off it but I allowed it because in the end it gave the users a discount on the product.

 So you see... everyone is using the site in some way to benefit, with no cost to any of you guys (the site is free) but it does cost alot for me to maintain. So when someone complains about the way I run it I get a little defensive, sorry if that offends anyone.

Unfortunately in business, these things happen. I have ordered 3 times from EVS and can honestly say I have been please not only with the customer service level but the product and delivery.

Steve will be missed. He brought a great deal of knowledge and fire to the Dvxuser.com. It's unfortunate he could not 'let it go'.

Sigh...

I'm telling you, it's the air.

Jarred, Thanks for clarifying the circumstances under which Steve "left on his own". I guess I must have missed this somewhere along the way.

THis is truly a very informational discussion forum you are providing and I hardly think anyone would expect you to maintain this without financial backing in the way of advertising. My thanks to EVS and the other sponsers for making this possible.

Take them to Vegas! now there is a birthday present. They have a little robot that walks around NAB your son would love to harrass. (at least they did for the last couple years)

Jarred, I think you do a superb job running this site. It is the only site that I check religiously every day. I also think it is quite admirable how you stepped in and tried to resolve the issue between Steve and EVS. I personally have had a great experience with Rush and EVS and will definitely be purchasing from them in the future. I guess I am in the minority when I say I will not miss Steve or his babyish rants one bit.
