In search of IF box!

Heya everybody, I've been excited to join to the F35 community for a long while now, so I got an F35 body for what I thought was a good deal, but it's missing the IF box and the little mounting bracket for a Sony HDVF-C30W viewfinder. I've tried calling several rental companies all over the country but it seems they are nowhere to be found. Would anybody be able to point me in a hopeful direction?

I may have some EVF parts. I'll look around.

You can still buy original parts from Sony pro parts. Perhaps at this point they would be willing to make deal, I doubt it, but you could call. They might be like wait, this price is $15,000 for 2003 part...

In the retail box, every F35 came with a IF box. It’s too bad a lot of resellers split them up. I don’t really think there are any F35 users hoarding them. I haven’t seen other camera system that uses them to explain why rental house might keep them. The HDVF is used on every broadcast Sony out there so something like that makes sense to separate from the package.

That's unfortunate. I see the Interface Box as an essential part of the F35 for modern shooting. The camera without it is only half the camera really.

The problem is they are not easy to find separately. I bought an extra one years ago when rental houses were just unloading all their F35 stocks. But I have not seen one for sale in a long time.

I wish you the best of luck. It might be easier to sell the F35 and look for one with the IF box.

Man, I’m in the same boat as you. I feel finding one is gonna render so hard. But it doesn’t matter anyhow because the 10 bit 422 looks beautiful and more then enough for the narrative work I shoot. And if you really need 444 simply using the srw1 will get you there without the interface box. Yes it’s heavy, but who buys this camera worrying about weight? Enjoy it to death I know I am.

yes, I found them. will send you a picture.

I would not worry too much about the IF box, shoot in 422 10bit for now and keep your eyes open. Some will pop up eventually.
There are also other ways to get 444 out of the camera without the IFBox, but I am currently developing them. Everything is off now, due to COVID. but as soon as things ease up I will get back to teh project.

Oh really mystery now! Spill the beans rbirnbaum, other ways to get 444 from the camera??? Don't leave a brother hanging...

Basically you get a circuit board and put some code in it that simulates a recorder is docked. You connect it to the rear dock. Then you grab the 4 sdi signals out of the dock and you have quad sdi outs. Basically opening up 50p 444. It’s been done before by Codex. Viddovation did a lot of diy work and posted the results and I am following up on that work to develop a similar circuit board and share it with the community for a small donation value. Search for Viddovation. All the info is on the blog. He never fully solved the puzzle. But the information helps you understand the camera.
