if anyone has any collection of wwII weapon sounds such as a thompson, a BAR, or mp40s. it would be great.. i cant seem to find any anywhere and im about to start editing my film. thanks

When you say can't find any, do you mean can't find any for free? Because I'm pretty certain you could find all of those at sounddogs.com, but of course they are not free. There are also a number of commercial libraries that have WWII weapons.

oh no. i mean i can find some but they dont sound realistic, and no not free.. nothing good ever comes free.

The BBC sound effects iibrary has just about everything you could ever want... and they're all well-recorded.

500 bucks... all i need is like 3 sounds from that collection. im assuming you cant download individual ones? they sound amazing though.

Have you looked at Sound Dogs? They have most of the commercial FX disks on line and you buy individual FX's. It's terribly cost effective if you need a lot from a single CD but when you want one from X and two from Y it's very good. You would be looking at like $3 - $8 each, varies with length.

Also you could go on more pro audio post boards like Digidesign User Conference or the Sound Design list and ask and you might get a response from someone who has done a bunch of recordings for some WWII film. But you have to know what you need.

I own this and highly recommend it to anyone doing sound design. Really its such an extensive and high quality collection. A great addition to any sound library!

I second the recommendation. They have more life in them by and large than Sound Ideas CD's. But they are british so they have limits for american sound tracks and most of the set is mono.

And on this site you can get the BBC series one bank of 10 at a time instead of having to buy them all at once.
At about $90 for ten CD's it's the best bang for the buck deal on SFX.
