hey guys,

I'm shooting a scene inside a car with 2 people in the front seats and wondering what the best way to mic them is.

Usually I would wireless lav them but we might see it this time.

Any suggestions on other mics?

I'm recording audio into an HVX200

thanks

Get a car with a sunroof and a boom mic...in preproduction for any film that needs this we always try to get a car with sunroof...no joke.

We did this as a night scene with black flagging out the windows and a light that we kept moving by...worked really well actually..

Are you needing the car to be moving at day? Then it's a bit harder...but then sound will be the least of your worries...we did it like this cause we wanted to be able to get decent angles.

You could always ADR it.

A number of different ways you can do this.

-Come up from underneath with a hyper cardoid mic on a magic arm between them.
- Plant mic's in the visor. You would think that could be a camera problem but more than usually its fine.
You can planet either Lav mic's there, or smaller hypers.

-wire them (my least fav, because of seatbelts..etc)

You didn't mention what this is for, or where the cameras are located.
If this is more of a doc shoot with the camera in the backseat..wire them because obviously you'd see the visor from that angle.
If the camera is in the front passenger seat and soundguy is in the back..simply boom from underneath. (make sure you turn off all A/C units..etc, windows up if possible)

If this is a film shoot with the cameras on hostess trays then my first suggestions work just fine
