I"m sure this is a simple question but how do i get my camera to allways record a TC? If i dont push the index button before I record shot then there is no TC recorded to tape. Any help??
When your shooting there will be TC, but your causing a timecode break by not using the rec chk button so its not syncing up to a recorded frame thus ....... TC break.
When your shooting, if you decide to go into VCR mode and watch back the last take, don't let it play for 5 seconds after the last clip ends. Rewind until you get to the last few frames or even seconds of the last clip and stop the camera. That way, when you go to record the next clip, the timecode will be picked up allowing a continuous timecode. By starting the camera over an unrecorded part of tape the camera won't pick up a timecode because there wont be any, so it will act like you just put in a new tape and start from 0:00:00:00 or whatever. That's why its important to record a few extra seconds before and after the clip to give you some room. One thing you could do is program one of your user buttons to color bars and after a take you could hit that button to record a few seconds of color bars and then once your done watching back your clip just rewind until your over the colorbars. That way you won't accidentally tape over something important.
Yeah, I find that having just a little bit extra space before and after the shots really makes things easier, and having the rec chk button is a great feature.
