In Camera Settings

First time post. I've owned my DVX100AP for two years and I'm still learning things about it as I bought the camera and had my cinematographer do all the shooting!!!
I wish to obviously learn more about it, and I've been reading on here for a little while. I saw a thread on here somewhere where it says "for an indoor shot, use these settings, or for an outdoor cloudy shot, use these settings". I saw the thread with the lightbulbs and the different DVX settings, but I'm looking for one where I use a quick reference. For example:
Shooting inside a church with brown walls and cloudy outside with flourescent lights as well. What would be the best settings?
I know how to change the user settings so I can switch back and forth, but I'm looking for some kind of reference guide like that. I already know of the medium shot, establishing, etc and such, but it is the technical side I wish to learn. Any advise would be great, thankz.

I don't think there's any simple answer. Barry's book/DVD is a good way to see the effects of all the settings. Then you need to know how to apply that knowledge to the scene you're shooting. For instance, if you're lighting is going to give you a lot of dark areas, maybe you want to increase the master pedestal so you can tease some texture out of those areas.

Ultimately, it all depends on what you want the finished product to look like, and how much of that look you want to create in post.
