In camera crop?

I read in another forum (about an anamorphic adapter for the GH1) that one of the patches in the GH13 would allow you to "crop" the image, potentially creating a 2.35 aspect ratio (I do understand that it's not the same as using an anamorphic lens, wouldn't really be as wide, etc.), and by doing so, would apply the "cropped" bitrate/resolution to the smaller area.
Does anyone know if one of the patches actually does this?

Just matte or crop in post. That way you at least have the ability to move your frame up and down and fine tune your 2.35:1 or 2.40:1 framing. Why record black bars or crop permanently when you can get the full image and have the option to use it later?

Because then 100% of the camera's bitrate goes into the image you're actually going to use.

Pentaque: Why you don't want by yourself take a look to current "hack" state in near topic : http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=206788&page=264

and bitrate is possible use full allocated bandwidth, however don't wait any image impoovement over current image quality (hacked versions) .
Thanks! I usually stay out of the big boys forum as it is a bit over my head, but it looks like a few testers are trying to get a "crop" going. Great news.
