Is there a black and white filming function on the DVX100b if so how do i access it? also if anyonbe knows how to make a cli black and white with final cut, i would appreciate the help, thanks.

There is no way to shoot black and white in camera on the DVX. Final Cut should have a simple means to create the look. Either a black and white filter, or a saturation adjust should work (sorry, it's been awhile since I've used FCP).
You can't shoot B&W to tape on the DVX, and you can't display it on the LCD, but you can monitor it through the viewfinder. I don't have my DVX handy at the moment but you want to configure the EVF Color setting in the menu.
As for Final Cut, just throw on the 3 Way Color Corrector and turn saturation down. Or you could just use a Saturation/Desaturation filter. You will probably want to tweak your black and white levels with the 3 Way, however.
