This may have been discussed before, but I am new.
I have the 100a and in standard 24p mode with the inCamera Letterbox on I get a white/grey line just inside the 16:9 black bars. This doesn't always happen, just half the time...or I only notice. Also, have many you experienced drop out too? did I get a bum camera?

Thanks.

I haven't encountered either problem myself.

Dropouts on a new camera should be extremely rare, what tapes are you using?

Is that line on the captured footage, or only in the viewfinder/LCD? If only in the viewfinder/LCD, it might just be the peaking used to help you focus.

The drop outs aren't excessive, but I would say 1 frame with multiple hits per hour of footage. I've used one panasonic tape, and three fuji. I've purchased panasonic to stick with. Thought I would try it out, and see if it were the fuji tapes.

As for the white lines, it does show up in the footage.
The lines aren't bright. They are somewhat transparent, but noticable. I would have to add a mask in Avid to cover it. I'm thinking of contacting Panasonic. How are they regarding customer service?

Thanks.

A telephone call does seem in order, assuming that this is a new camera. Perhaps work through the dealer that you made the camera purchase from.

By the way, don't mix tape brands as they don't all use the same lubrication approach. I would just stick with Panasonics MQs and you shouldn't experience many (if any) drop outs.

It is a new camera, only a few months old. I have decided to stick with the MQ tapes.

As for the lines, its only with the letterbox. You've never heard of this?

Toggle the EVF DTL switch on/off, and you'll probably see the white lines go away and come back. EVF DTL is the viewfinder peaking system, a focus aid. The white lines let you know it's on.

That was my first thought, yoo. That's why I asked about whether they show up in captured footage...

Since it does... Hmmm.
