'Impulse' film trailer

The trailer doesn't say much about the movie IMO. Seems like you let him try to tell your trailer story when you should of let the story drive the trailer and have him only enhance it a bit.

Nice design in the end though, regarding the text.

Hey
I definitely think it would make it into plenty of film festivals. Some of the local screenings of films here in Richmond make me cover my ears or make me close my eyes because they are so bad. Yours looked pretty good, and it looked like you had a good sized budget. Hope you get into the festivals you want.

Voice is from the link from first post, Kevin Genus. The music was done by Jesper Kyd, www.jesperkyd.com you may know his work better from the 'Hitman' games by Eidos, rather I/O Interactive.

The trailer was nice but I don't agree with the VO. It sounded to over the top for me. Like a person trying too hard to sound cool. "In a world where humans are hunted... blah blah blah" And as coffee already mentioned, we don't have a clue of what's going on. A trailer should not leave you confused, it should leave you wanting more.

Good luck with your project. I'm sure you'll get some film festivals to accept it. Just don't show them the trailer. Just kidding. :)

P.S. Your video logo is VERY cool. Simple and powerful.

Love the titles. The VO is good, but its just saying a bunch of creepy stuff and the footage doesn't really compliment it.

I agree that you need to show some more story to give us a feel for what this is, then leave us wanting more.

And also your compositions need some work, the stylistic titles kinda clash with the "okay" look of the footage.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm raining on your parade, just want to offer some constructive criticism.

i think the big problem with the voicover is that the extreme voice is drawing too much attention to itself. when I was watching the trailer I could hardly concentrate on the images because of the extreme voice.

and its too over the top so it's a little bit riddiculous.

like they said in that hitchhiker through the galaxy trailer a ten feet tall man who has been smoking cigarettes since childhood :)

the images of the trailer were cool. Really looked like you had some money for this. nice job!

The video looks great. I supose that it was post with magic bullet... or you shoot with diffusion like promist?
good job.

I agree with the others who say the title design is great. EXCEPT... The ones giving the names of individual actors disappear much too quickly, at least with the font & effects being used. The purpose of such titles is to give information to the viewer that will help sell the movie ("Oh, wow, Tim Hinton is in this--gee, gotta see it!"). Even after the third viewing, I still couldn't catch the last of the names to appear. I wouldn't change the design, just extend the duration a bit.

I used a bunch of different color corrections to get the look I wanted. I spend more time than anything with 'CC'. Very fussy, anyway it went from this

To this afterword, I think it looks a little better.

nice work,
it's clear you have a good eye,
but ı didn't like the colors too much. ıt looks at the middle not grey tones not warm tones.
and at the beginning you have some hand shake (or it seems so) but generally succesfull movie. waiting for new one...

"Little bit ridiculous" indeed ! ... I found it was like a parody or something(too much reverb in delay in there !?). I did like the CC though. i really dont understand why the pano you make is without a tripod... really look strange to me.

Nice titles and GRAT Voice over. But I agree, I really have no idea what the film is about. The pace of the trailer is a bit slow as well. Looks cool and sounds very interesting but needs to be tighten up a bit. Good luck with and nice job!

I think that yo could do well at the festivals, as I have seen a lot of crap, and this does not look like crap. As others have mentioned the VO is a bit over the top. And I think that he does to much of the work - trying to tell the story, instead of the images telling the story. It would be better to not have him say the name of the movie at the end of the trailer, and then just have the title with some ambient BG audio.

Overall it looks good. Just tightenup the trailer, make it clearer what the story is and you'll go far...
