Importing Sony F3 footage into Final Cut Pro?

Editing a short movie (school project) that was shot on a Sony F3. I need to know the correct process to import this footage into Final Cut Pro.

Thanks for the help

With XDCam Transfer installed, you should be able to Log & Transfer the F3 material directly in Final Cut Pro 7.

Maybe I just don't know how to do it. I hardly ever use the F3 internal recorder. I almost always use a KiPro Mini to ProResHQ, but it would be nice to know how to go directly to FC for the off speed takes.
What is the process?

If you have the Sony software (and codecs) installed, you should be able to go up the FILE>LOG & TRANSFER menu, and open the L&T window. Then, you can set your Preferences for how L&T brings in the material. You can choose to transcode to ProRes, or work with the footage natively.

This is all based on memory, and I don't have FCP in front of me right now to confirm, but I think this is how it works. The F3 codec is the same as the EX1/3 codecs, and working with those natively in FCP was never an issue.

I used the XDCam transfer plugin and everything worked, thanks for the help!!. Also I am editing this footage in the original codec & FCP seems to work perfectly with it, there is no reason to transcode to Pro Res Hq is there?

Thanks

One thing that I'm not sure many people know about is the fact that if you use FCP's Log and Transfer, you're able to "Batch Capture" the clips (or sequence) like it was tape. If you use XDCAM transfer and drag the rewrapped QT files into your bin, you cannot batch capture later.
